Now back to the story of Amebere ga nyina Mwiru. loosly translated Amabere ga Nyina Mwiru means breasts of Nyinamwiru.

Nyinamwiru was a daughter of King Bukuku who was one of the great kings of the Bachwezi/Batembuzi dynasty who were believed to be demigods as established above. These ancient kings were believed to have the ability to disappear from time to time, whenever they felt like, they would apparently disappear to the underground.

Nyinamwiru was a beautiful princess with a strong personality. As the customs were back then, fathers married off their daughters to a suitor of their choice. Nyinamwiru’s father, King Bukuku got her a husband and she refused to marry him. This was considered a taboo, no one disobeyed the kings’ orders back then.

Her decision greatly infuriated the king and his subjects. The king, accustomed to unquestioning obedience, was deeply angered by the woman’s refusal.

In a harsh display of power, the king condemned her to a terrible fate, ensuring she could never bear children or find love. The King ordered her breasts to be cut off. The story claims these distinctive white rocks at Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves are her breasts pouring milk since that day. They believed to have formed from her unwavering spirit, forever pouring forth a symbolic representation of motherhood denied.

Local legend associates these milky white stones with a woman who dared to defy the king’s will. The specifics of her defiance are lost to time, but her courage is forever etched in this place.
