Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to the Pearl of Africa

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative of Africa Moja Safaris will be eagerly waiting to receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Most flights arrive in the afternoon or night and by this time it is too late to drive to the national park. Therefore, you will arrive, spend the night, and prepare to leave the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to the Primates Capital, Kibale, home of the Chimpanzees

After breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe, you will transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Arrive at your Lodge in late afternoon. Check in and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park

Fuel up with a delicious breakfast at your lodge before embarking on an exhilarating half-day chimpanzee tracking adventure. You’ll be transferred to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, where you’ll receive a comprehensive 30-40 minute briefing about chimpanzee behavior, ecology, and conservation efforts. This informative session will prepare you for your encounter with these fascinating primates.

After lunch, you will take a Swamp walk in the Bigodi community – proceeds from this help in community development. This walk through the wetland will bring you close to nature. You might see red-tailed monkeys, Mangabeys, several bird species, and butterflies. You will also have an opportunity to visit the community and have a coffee experience, banana brewing, basketry, and conversations with the medicine man.

Day 4: Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and boat cruise along the Kazinga channel

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Keep an eye out for diverse wildlife, including lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, antelopes, warthogs, waterbucks, and bushbucks. After a delicious lunch, set sail on a captivating boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This stunning waterway connects the serene waters of Lake Edward and Lake George.

Day 5: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your day dawns early as you embark on a wildlife safari. Explore the vast Kasenyi Plains, home to lions, elephants, buffaloes, Ugandan kob, and antelope. The dense thickets of the Mweya Peninsula offer a sanctuary for the elusive leopard.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the magnificent mountain gorillas, is an adventure in itself.  Enroute to Bwindi offers a  rewarding drive through diverse landscapes. You’ll pass through rolling hills, lush valleys, and charming towns. Check into your lodge and in the afternoon visit one of the Batwa communities. The Batwa, also known as the “Twa” people, are an indigenous group of hunter-gatherers who have inhabited the rainforests of Uganda and Rwanda for thousands of years. They were the original inhabitants of the forests that are now protected as national parks, including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Today, you’ll have the extraordinary opportunity to encounter rare mountain gorillas, one of the world’s most unforgettable wildlife experiences. 

Gorillas are amazing creatures, with so much energy yet gentle therefore known as the gentle giants.  After an early breakfast, your driver/guide will transfer you to the briefing area from where you are allocated gorilla families, and a ranger guide to lead you in the forest. The ranger guide will give a brief about your time in the forest, after this, you will be divided into groups to trek specified gorilla family.

Once you locate the gorillas with the help of your guide, you are allowed to stay with them for only one hour. The gorilla trek can take anything from a few minutes to several hours depending on where they nested the previous night. We advise that you take along a porter to help with your day pack and also assist you as you walk through the steep areas in the forest. 

While the trek can be challenging, navigating through rain and mud, the reward is unparalleled: the chance to gaze into the soulful brown eyes of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe

An early morning flight from Kisoro to Entebbe marks the end of your seven-day adventure. After trekking with majestic gorillas, observing playful chimpanzees, and exploring one of Uganda’s most iconic wildlife parks, it’s time to say farewell to this beautiful country. You’ll spend your final day in Entebbe before your departure flight home.
