Day 1, Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
Embark on an exciting journey to discover the wonders of Tanzania. Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted and transported to your designated lodge. If time permits, take a stroll through the local markets in Arusha town and indulge in the flavors of Tanzania by stopping at a nearby restaurant for an authentic local dish.
Day 2, Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Depart from the lodge following breakfast and embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park for an exhilarating game drive. This park stretches alongside the Tarangire River, characterized by low-lying hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Its indigenous flora primarily comprises Acacia woodland and towering African Baobab trees, surrounded by expansive swamp areas in the southern region. Serving as a natural magnet for wildlife, especially during Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and swamps contribute to the park’s reputation for harboring some of the largest elephant herds in Africa.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park Exploration
Commence your day with breakfast before departing the lodge for a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, immersing yourself in a captivating game drive. The park, tracing the Tarangire River, features low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its distinctive vegetation includes Acacia woodland and colossal African Baobab trees, complemented by expansive swamp areas in the southern region. These natural elements become a focal point for wildlife during Tanzania’s dry season, earning Tarangire National Park acclaim for hosting some of Africa’s largest elephant herds.
Day 4: Tarangire National Park Game Drive
Embark on an early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park after a hearty breakfast. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and a relaxing siesta. At 16:00, join a nature walk guided by a Maasai Warrior, exploring the surrounding area and encountering wildlife such as zebras and antelopes. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner back at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti
After breakfast, depart the lodge and journey through the Ngorongoro Crater en route to the Serengeti National Park. Descend from the highlands into the heart of the Serengeti, where endless plains stretch as far as the eye can see. Along the way, visit a Maasai Boma for a glimpse into their traditional dances. Continue to the central park area, featuring the Seronera River, a vital water source attracting diverse wildlife representative of the Serengeti.
Day 6: Full Day Serengeti Game Drive
Dedicate a full day to exploring the expansive Serengeti plains. Embark on an early morning game drive, capturing the beauty of sunrise and the activity of grazing animals. Choose between returning to your accommodation for a hot lunch or opting for a packed lunch at one of the Serengeti’s picnic sites. In the afternoon, continue the game drive, keeping an eye out for lions as dusk approaches.
Day 7: Transfer to Mara River
An early start takes you to the Mara River, where wildebeests gather, especially during August when crossing into the Masai Mara occurs. Spend the day along the river, observing the dynamic movements of wildebeests and the awaiting crocodiles. Note that during other times of the year, a game drive is offered with no guarantee of river crossings.
Day 8: Transfer to Ngorongoro
Following breakfast, check out and drive through Ngorongoro to Karatu, reveling in the diverse landscapes along the journey.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Commence the day with an early breakfast before descending 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive. Supported by a constant water supply, the crater hosts a myriad of animals, including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Predators like lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards also thrive in this picturesque park. Visit Lake Magadi to observe flamingos, hippos, and other water birds.
Day 10: Transfer to Arusha
After breakfast, engage in Cultural Activities in Karatu, followed by a local lunch. In the afternoon, your driver guide will transfer you to Arusha.
Day 11: Departure
Enjoy breakfast and, depending on your flight time, transfer to the airport for your journey home.
